To finish up our series on outdoor showers, we thought we’d include a blog post on maintenance tips for outdoor showers! If you’ve made the investment to get an outdoor shower, then you want to make sure you are taking care of it properly! In today’s post we want to show you how to maintain an outdoor shower to keep it in the best condition possible.
- Frost-proof pipes. If you live in a cold climate, then you might want to frost proof your pipes to prevent bursting over the winter season.
- Keep it dry. Hopefully your shower is placed somewhere that the sun can reach it and dry it out! Either way, make sure that moisture isn’t collecting in any areas that could turn into mold.
- Clean it. Just like indoor showers, outdoor showers will also need to be cleaned! Sweep away dirt and debris so it doesn’t clog the drain. Also, use cleaning products, like what you would use indoors, to clean the shower and prevent mildew from building up. Some recommend using steel wool to scrub the surface. If you are having trouble removing mildew or mold, you might need to call a pool/outdoor shower company to come give it a good cleaning.
- Drain your pipes for the winter. Even if you have frost-proofed your pipes, you might want to drain your outdoor faucets for the winter. This can prevent water from collecting inside the pipes and freezing. Check out this video for more information about how to do this. Don’t be afraid to give us a call if you have questions!
So what do you think? Easy enough? An outdoor shower can provide a great deal of benefits, and isn’t too much of a hassle to take care of! Let us know if you have any questions about how to maintain an outdoor shower.
